"Mochin de gadlut" in Hebrew is literally translated as "mind of bigness" and refers to expanded consciousness. During this month, as we heal our thoughts, it is important for us to expand our consciousness. How many of us are walking around on auto-pilot? Do we realize how much we do on auto-pilot? Do we realize how much of life we miss out on in auto-pilot mode? Kabbalah teaches that the Shechinah (Divine Presence) is in the present, not in the past or the future. We miss so much of what is going on, especially our connection to the Light of the Creator when our minds are elsewhere. Take a moment as you read this, to notice your peripheral vision. Keep your eyes on these words and simply see what is going on this moment around you. You may at first have difficulty doing this exercise, but it's a good one to help expand your consciousness. The next level of making the mind bigger is to notice the sounds in the room as you are reading this and noticing what is going on around you. Now notice how the chair feels beneath you or the sensations in your body at this moment. This is yet another level. The more we practice this, the more alert we will become and the more expanded our conciousness will be. Becoming aware is a necessary part of healing our thoughts and a necessary part of realizing that the Shechinah is always present.

S'firat HaOmer (Counting of The Omer)
S'firat HaOmer begins on the 2nd day of Pesach and continues for 49 days until Shavuot. Each night we will hold a brief community S'firat HaOmer service with meditation at 9:00 PM EDT unless there's another event scheduled. Check our CALENDAR for specific dates and times. You can see what day of the Omer we are on by looking at the top right of our website on any page. Clicking the Day will launch our S'firat HaOmer connection if you wish to do it on your own.

Our Community Needs Your Support
The word "tzedakah" in Hebrew means charity, but actually the word is derived from the root word which means righteousness, justice or fairness. Giving is not viewed as a generous act, it is simply an act of righteousness and justice. Tzedakah is in many ways an exchange of energy and is a visible expression of gratitude in this world for that which we have received. We rely on the generosity of others so that we may make our siddurim (prayer books) and other resources available for all, as well as continue to offer meaningful studies and inspiring services. Please help support our community by making a DONATION. We thank you in advance for your generosity.
