Terumah, 26 Shevat 5778
February 11, 2018

The new month of Adar (Pisces) will begin this Friday. Naftali is the tribe of the month of Adar, the last month of the year. Menachem ibn Saruk associates the name of Naftali with the word "patil" which means "fastened" or "connected." The word "tefilah", which means "prayer", is related to the word "patil", for when we pray, we connect to the Creator. In order for us to be able to connect, we have to transform our ego. As we know the ego keeps us connected to this world and can prevent our soul from connecting to the spiritual world. Prayer should have an effect on us so that transformation becomes easier, for it develops sensitivity to the world around us. Our tefilah should be a meaningful fastening of ourselves to Creator. When we are connected, we are able to find joy even in life's most difficult moments. May this new month be a time of connection, of fastening ourselves to Creator and may we be blessed with unbounded joy.

NEW Perek Shirah Page
Perek Shirah is an ancient text of unknown authorship, although many commentaries attribute it to King David. It takes the form of a list of eighty-four elements of the natural world. Everything in creation praises its Creator. The lessons can assist us on our journey. Rabbi Eliezer said, Anyone who involves themselves with Perek Shirah in this world, merits saying it in the next world. Kabbalah4All will be working on a new photo each week with a verse until we complete all 84. Click Here to go to our new Perek Shirah page.
Please Donate to Show Your Appreciation!
The word "tzedakah" in Hebrew means charity, but actually the word is derived from the root word which means righteousness, justice or fairness. Giving is not viewed as a generous act, it is simply an act of righteousness and justice. Tzedakah is in many ways an exchange of energy and is a visible expression of gratitude in this world for that which we have received. We rely on the generosity of others so that we may make our siddurim (prayer books) and other resources available for all, as well as continue to offer meaningful studies and inspiring services. Please help support our community by making a DONATION. We thank you in advance for your generosity.
