Noach, 28 Tishrei 5780
October 27, 2019

This Wednesday we will begin the new month of Cheshvan (Scorpio), often called Mar Cheshvan. Mar means bitter and this month is seen as bitter because it is a dark month in which there are no holidays. We must remember one important truth though, when there is darkness there is a great potential for us to allow the Light to shine through us. This month corresponds to the sign of Scorpio which is a water sign. It is during this month that the floods during the time of Noah began and Noach is the first parshah we read as we begin this month. In the Sefer Yetzirah, Abraham wrote that the Creator used the letter Nun to create the sense of smell. The Kabbalists teach that when Adam and Eve gave into temptation, they only used four of their senses. They did not use the sense of smell. This tells us that the sense of smell is the most elevated of all senses. It is the sense connected to our higher soul, that part of us which can never be blemished. The sense of smell should remind us this month that we have a part of ourselves which remains unchanged and that should encourage us on our path of transformation. The area of healing this month is this sense. As we begin this month, take a deep breath and allow yourself to experience this sense and take time to observe what you smell. One of the reasons we have a blessing over fragrant things is so that we are reminded of the pureness of our soul and that we do not take that for granted. May this month be a time of recognizing the purity of our soul and our innate desire to share with those around us.

Thank You In Advance For Your Support
The word "tzedakah" in Hebrew means charity, but actually the word is derived from the root word which means righteousness, justice or fairness. Giving is not viewed as a generous act, it is simply an act of righteousness and justice. Tzedakah is in many ways an exchange of energy and is a visible expression of gratitude in this world for that which we have received. We rely on the generosity of others so that we may make our siddurim (prayer books) and other resources available for all, as well as continue to offer meaningful studies and inspiring services. Please help support our community by making a DONATION. We thank you in advance for your generosity.
Perek Shirah Page
Perek Shirah is an ancient text of unknown authorship, although many commentaries attribute it to King David. It takes the form of a list of eighty-four elements of the natural world. Everything in creation praises its Creator. The lessons can assist us on our journey. Rabbi Eliezer said, Anyone who involves themselves with Perek Shirah in this world, merits saying it in the next world. Kabbalah4All will be working on a new photo each week with a verse until we complete all 84. Click Here to go to our new Perek Shirah page.
